East Kilbride West candidate David Watson has signed up to Alzheimer Scotland’s Dementia Manifesto for Scotland’s local government elections.

David said:

“I am happy to support the campaign to highlight the scale of the problems facing people living with dementia in Scotland.

“The Scottish Government have made this issue a national priority and local government also need to make this a priority for the growing number of people with dementia and their families.

“Dementia is not an inevitable part of aging, but a terminal illness and people with dementia, their carers and families are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect.

“Over half of the population of Scotland have a family member or close friend with dementia and they should be supported by skilled staff in their local community.

“If elected, I pledge to make dementia a priority in my ward.”
