SNP top Poll in East Kilbride

Following the Local Elections for South Lanarkshire Council, the SNP are now the largest Party in East Kilbride receiving 11898 votes compared to 10611 for Labour in terms of first preference votes, which secures 10 seats on the East Kilbride Area Committee, compared to 8 for Labour.
East Kilbride West SNP Councillor David Watson said:
“This was an endorsment of the positive local government campaign the SNP had fought compared to Labours negative campaign which appeared to be fought on scare mongering about Independence and a campaign built around anonomous letters to the East Kilbride News.

“SNP Councillors will continue to champion their local areas as well as East Kilbride.”
