Out with the old ...

East Kilbride East SNP Candidate, Gladys Miller has spoken of the SNP’s vision for schools in South Lanarkshire.

Gladys said:

“Supporting children in their earliest years gives them opportunities for learning and development that make a huge difference for the rest of their lives.

“Even in these difficult times, we must do everything we can to give our children the best possible start in life.

“Despite the unprecedented cuts in public spending from Westminister, the SNP Government has protected council budgets and that means we can do more for communities.

“With this, an SNP Administration at South Lanarkshire Council would prioritise spending on frontline services such as staffing and supplies for schools.

... in with the new!

The SNP Government is committed to building schools fit for the 21st century, lifting all Scottish school children out of the worst condition schools and providing a facility for the whole community.

“We have seen the benefit of this here in East Kilbride and an SNP Administration would ensure the Schools Modernisation Programme is completed and would continue to cut class sizes as resources allow.

“As a parent of a child in an East Kilbride school, I know what an important role schools play in our community.

“An SNP Administration at South Lanarkshire Council would encourage Parent Councils to be more pro-active in representing their communities in the life of schools.

“We’ve shown what can be achieved with an SNP Government nationally and we can do the same with an SNP council at South Lanarkshire – working together to move East Kilbride forward.”
