Having had the privilege to serve as a local councillor covering The Murray, Westwood and original Newlandsmuir area for the past five years, John is continuing to support local residents and communtiy groups to help create a cleaner, safer East Kilbride.

John believes that councillors should do everything possible to make a positive difference to the everyday lives of people and, in partnership with local groups on your behalf, he has :

  • campaigned against the introduction of parking permit charges
  • campaigned for the refurbishment of the lock-ups at Mossgiel and Chatham and continues to campaign to have all lock-ups refurbished
  • campaigned for the removal of Honeywell House ( red building) and called for it to be replaced with affordable housing
  • campaigned for the installation of a traffic island on Murrayhill, to ensure pedestrians could cross the road safely
  • campaigned for a mini roundabout at the junction of Westwood Hill / Westwood Road to help traffic flow
  • campaigned to ensure roads and footpaths are repaired or resurfaced
  • campaigned against the closure of the Red Deer Centre
  • campaigned to ensure residents return their wheelie bin to the confines of their property
