Linda Fabiani MSP for East Kilbride has welcomed a new internet-only TV show devoted to the best in new music from Scotland.
Detour, which is fronted by Radio One presenter Ally McCrae and his musical collaborator David Weaver, was launched this week by a group of young people frustrated that Scotland’s vibrant pop and rock scene did not have its own programme.
“A million people watch live music every year in Scotland and many more listen at home. But there is no Scottish TV show for new music. Detour is made a group of young people who wanted to do something about that. All are in their early to mid-twenties and passionate about what they do.
“Detour has had 2000 views in the first 24 hours of going live, which is a tremendous achievement and shows the professionalism of the team behind it, who are all self-financing. The show is fresh and energetic and showcases the wide range of talent in Scotland.
“East Kilbride is home to many exciting new bands such as The Ashtones and The Audio Kings and I hope this new Scottish TV show creates opportunities for our talented musicians to make their mark on the music scene.”
The new Detour show will be presented by Ally McCrae and David Weaver, with Paul Downie and Clare Armstrong managing production and Euan Robertson managing the camera crew. There are many more volunteers giving their time and talent for nothing.
