Fabiani welcomes figures highlighting staff figures in NHS Lanarkshire up by 13.3 per cent under SNP
East Kilbride MSP Linda Fabiani has today welcomed a 13.3 per cent increase in the number of staff working for NHS Lanarkshire since the SNP came to office.
New figures show that the number of staff working in NHS Lanarkshire has increased from 9265 in September 2006, to September 2015’s figure of 10,499. There has also been an increase of 1.9 per cent between September 2014 and September 2015.
Commenting, Linda said:
“These figures show that under the SNP Government, NHS Lanarkshire has substantially more staff. I would like to thank the 10,499 hard-working doctors, nurses and ancillary staff who are providing quality care day in and day out in NHS Lanarkshire.
“It is encouraging that the number of people working for the NHS in Scotland is now at a record high and there are now 2,000 more nurses and midwives compared to when the SNP took office. The NHS budget has also reached a record high and now stands at £12 billion – an increase of £3 billion since 2007.
“While much progress has been made, the SNP will continue to do everything possible to make our NHS healthier still. That’s why, if re-elected as Scotland’s government, the SNP will protect the resource budget of the NHS in real terms for the next five years.”
