Linda Fabiani MSP has praised the Scottish Government’s Detect Cancer Early Initiative which aims to increase the number diagnosed in the earliest stages of cancer by 25% and improve cancer survival rates for patients in Scotland.
Linda said: “This is excellent news from the SNP Scottish Government. Early detection of cancer saves lives and keeps families together longer. This campaign will encourage more people to get screened and that will be vital for early detection.
“The initiative will focus in the three most common cancers in Scotland; breast, bowel and lung and that’s a sensible way to start but there are other cancers too. I know about the East Kilbride ovarian cancer charity ‘Lets Shout for Linda’ in memory of Linda O’Hara, for example, and will be writing to Nicola Sturgeon to ask her to extend the scheme to include other cancers.”
