Linda Fabiani MSP for East Kilbride is encouraging students in the town to get their applications for student support in now after the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) has announced they are open for applications for 2013/14 academic session.
“Students in Scotland receive the best support package available the UK. This year, the Scottish Government have enhanced the package available to students meaning the maximum funding package available will be increased to £7,250 and an extra year’s funding will be made available for any student who requires to extend their study due to illness or absence on compassionate grounds.
“However, too often students leave applying for their funding to the last minute which can cause a backlog in the processing of applications. This can cause particular problems for those who have complex applications. In order to avoid any delays in students receiving support, I would encourage any East Kilbride students to get their applications in now.
“SAAS have updated their website to include the new information on funding and how to apply hopefully making the process easier for students. This information is available at www.saas.gov.uk As always, my office will be happy to help anyone who encounters problems
