Linda Fabiani MSP for East Kilbride has encouraged East Kilbride charities to apply for a Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) Volunteering Development Grant which offers a small grant of up to £10,000 to charities that want to improve and develop their capacity to involve volunteers.
“Effective volunteering can be a really powerful tool for delivering vital services to communities and also brings substantial benefits to the volunteers themselves and the organisations they work within.
“This grant, funded by the Scottish Government, is targeted at registered charities working within Scotland, who either want to add value to their existing services through volunteers or improve and develop their capacity to deploy and support volunteers.
“I would encourage any eligible registered charities in East Kilbride to download an application form and guidance notes from www.vaf.org.uk and ensure they apply before the deadline of 8 June 2012.”
Notes to Editors:
Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is an independent charitable grant making body which invests in voluntary and community based organisations across Scotland. The funding and support we provide enables charities and community groups to involve volunteers and undertake projects that challenge inequalities and overcome barriers to being involved in community life.

The VDG is funded by the Scottish Government up to end of March 2013.
