East Kilbride’s MSP Linda Fabiani has offered congratulations to the recipients of the Big Lottery’s Awards for All Grant. Two groups from East Kilbride are to receive nearly £11,000 of funding for projects benefitting their local community.
1st East Kilbride Scout Group has recently received a £10,000 Awards for All grant from Big Lottery Fund enabling them to complete the refurbishment of their Scout Hall. The project will provide a fit for purpose Hall for use by over 115 scouts, leaders and helpers, and will provide a valuable meeting place for voluntary groups in the community.
Also celebrating are the residents of Archibald Kelly Court who received £975 for entertainment equipment which will help to reduce social isolation amongst residents who are less able to get out and about by providing accessible social activities such as a ‘Movie Night’.
Linda said; “I am delighted that such deserving groups in East Kilbride have received these awards.
“The 1st East Kilbride Scouts are a valued organisation to young people in East Kilbride and I think it is wonderful that they will now have a proper space to carry out their activities.
“With the Awards for All Grant, the residents of Archibald Kelly Court will be able to create a facility that will enrich the lives of its residents, in particular those with mobility problems.
“I congratulate those who put in the hard work to secure the grant and I look forward to seeing the end results.”
