Fabiani delight as East Kilbride groups receive Lottery Awards

East Kilbride’s MSP Linda Fabiani has offered congratulations to the recipients of the Big Lottery’s Awards for All Grant.  Two groups from East Kilbride are to receive nearly £11,000 of funding for projects benefitting their local community.

1st East Kilbride Scout Group has recently received a £10,000 Awards for All grant from Big Lottery Fund enabling them to complete the refurbishment of their Scout Hall.  The project will provide a fit for purpose Hall for use by over 115 scouts, leaders and helpers, and will provide a valuable meeting place for voluntary groups in the community.

Also celebrating are the residents of Archibald Kelly Court who received £975 for entertainment equipment which will help to reduce social isolation amongst residents who are less able to get out and about by providing accessible social activities such as a ‘Movie Night’.

Linda said; “I am delighted that such deserving groups in East Kilbride have received these awards.

“The 1st East Kilbride Scouts are a valued organisation to young people in East Kilbride and I think it is wonderful that they will now have a proper space to carry out their activities.

“With the Awards for All Grant, the residents of Archibald Kelly Court will be able to create a facility that will enrich the lives of its residents, in particular those with mobility problems.

“I congratulate those who put in the hard work to secure the grant and I look forward to seeing the end results.”
