Linda Fabiani MSP for East Kilbride has today attended the roadshow being held in East Kilbride on NHS Lanarkshire proposals on car parking.

NHS Lanarkshire are currently reviewing the management of car parking across NHS Lanarkshire sites and are seeking comments from staff and the public, particularly from patients and visitors, on what is being proposed. A public consultation is currently underway, which closes on 31st January 2012.

Following her attendance at Hairmyres Hospital today to discuss the parking changes’ consultation by NHS Lanarkshire, Linda Fabiani said:

“I am heartened first of all that NHS Lanarkshire have accepted that each site merits its own consideration and conditions. I have submitted my Consultation Form with the view that all staff should be entitled to parking in the hospital car park whilst they are at work, and that hospital visitors should be able to park without restriction. If there is an issue about parking beyond these user groups, then restrictive measures can be considered

“I think there is also a case for free staff and user parking at the other health centres in the town

“I encourage everyone with an interest in this subject to make their views known to NHS Lanarkshire by end January”
