Linda Fabiani MSP was this week unanimously endorsed by East Kilbride SNP to contest the seat in next year’s Scottish Parliament elections.

Speaking after the meeting, Linda said:

“It is an absolute honour that local party members have placed their on-going support in me.

“East Kilbride is a great constituency, of which I have had the pleasure of representing since 2011.

“I will continue to oppose the punitive Tory welfare cuts and push for jobs and investment, and pursue social services and housing concerns. With record-levels of funding, our NHS is in good shape and our streets are the safest they have been for forty years.

“The SNP Government has extended free personal care and concessionary travel, as well as freezing the council tax, abolishing tuition fees and getting rid of prescription charges. These measures have helped keep household bills down for struggling families in the face of Tory cuts.

“We have achieved so much, but there is much work still to be done. I will continue to work as hard as I can for East Kilbride and constituents.

East Kilbride Vice-Convenor Hugh Macdonald, who chaired the meeting said:

“Linda has served East Kilbride with great enthusiasm and determination, and it was no surprise there was unanimous backing for her to stand again next year.

“We will campaign hard to return Linda at the upcoming Scottish Parliament elections.”
