Councillor Archie Buchanan (EK South)

Office: 01698 454456

Mobile:   07748 114 555

Archie has lived in this area for over thirty years, has brought up his family here and has been a well known councillor for twenty years now. He is a member of several Council committees including Planning, Community Resources, Social Work and the EK Licensing Board.

Archie lives in the East Kilbride South Ward that he wishes to continue to represent, operates his own electrical and property maintenance business and also drives a mini bus for an East Kilbride nursery.

As one of the longest serving councillors in East Kilbride, Archie is proud of the commitment the SNP have given to the town in representing and helping local people. He is fully committed to the South Lanarkshire Council primary school replacement programme and looks forward to its completion in 2015.

Archie is also fully committed to being involved in the local community. He has been operating EK South Youth Club for some twelve years now, has been the Chairperson of Greenhills Millennium Video Group since the year 2000, is Vice-Chairperson of Clubs for Young People (Scotwest) and has now restarted the Greenhills Neighbourhood Senior Citizens’ Club.

Archie is of the view that one of the core responsibilities for a local councillor is to be involved within his community and he will always assist any constituent in setting up local groups.
